Loves of My Life

Cispus 2013 has come to and end and after being away from my family for a week I am home. On the drive home I was plagued with the familiar questions of "did everyone have a good time?", "what would make it better?", "did we make a difference in the life of the kids?", "will i co-direct this program again next year?". And while I can say that the week went well attempting to impact the lives of 242 6th graders and 37 counselors I am exhausted! I thought at one point toothpicks to prop open my eyelids may be necessary in order to get home safely! Although my body was desperate to curl up and pass out I was elated to shower my family with hugs and kisses. Thank goodness for a second wind!! I picked up the kids from my moms and they were both thrilled to see me which of course made my day. Brooklyn was smiling huge and screaming and Lincoln wrapped me in a ginormous bear hug. We came home, had dinner and spent the evening playing in the dirt out at our property. It was the perfect ending to my trip :) :)

House Progress

Things are finally starting to take shape!  The foundation was dug out and we got a culvert!  Never in a million years would I have thought I'd be as excited as a kid on Christmas Eve to see a culvert and a patch of gravel.  I guess I'm growing up.  Haha!  Once the foundation was dug out the earth work also began, the digging of trenches for the power line, the septic and the well.  Josh rented a dozer and Lincoln even helped him one evening.  He had a blast.  After that Lincoln insisted on "going to the property" nearly every evening. The kids absolutely LOVE playing out there rain or shine.  In fact one evening Lincoln was trying to teach Brooklyn how to jump in the puddles.  When it was time to leave, she was not very happy!

Lincoln fell into the foundation the day we went to see the dig out.  Once he was in he and Daddy were having races in the wide open space.
Brooklyn also enjoyed running around in the dirt!
Once the forms went up for the foundation I couldn't help, but find myself at the property on a daily basis overjoyed and anticipating some sort of change from the work they had done that day or the day prior.

Starting to put up the forms for the foundation...

Lincoln got to stay and help Daddy dig some trenches!

Brooklyn had to come home and was not too thrilled :-(
Forms with cement!
A few Saturday's back Josh and his dad worked on putting in the septic tank.  The kids of course "helped" that day too...

Working on the septic

Someone even peed in the drain field...

The view from the top of the driveway.  We had to bring in some gravel because of all the mud!

More forms!
The view from the back corner

Josh borrowed my parents tractor to do some of the back filling.  Luckily they live really close so he was able to drive it to the property.  Lincoln LOVED following him there with our flashers on, but he didn't understand why we couldn't pass him because he was going so slow!

We have an actual foundation!!  YAHOO!!

The framing should start next week while I am away at camp.  To be continued....

Recent Projects

Here are a few of the recent crafts I have made either for myself or as a request :-)  I LOVE doing it!

Easter

Easter already!  I was very excited about Easter this year knowing that the kids would be old enough to have a lot of fun hunting eggs.  We colored eggs at my mom's house the day before like we do every year.  Lincoln had fun mixing the colors.  He wasn't very patient waiting got the eggs to get nice and bright!

Easter morning we were up early getting ready for church.  I even got Lincoln in a polo shirt!  Yahoo!  After service we headed home so the kids could nap before heading to participate in the Easter festivities.  Haha!  Brooklyn took a good nap, but not Lincoln.  The weather was gorgeous and I was able to sneak a little "me" time in reading on a blanket in the yard.

We headed to my parent's house so the kids could  open their Easter baskets...  Spoiled rotten!  Especially considering they had already gotten an Easter basket from Grandma Danette after church and one from us!

We walked over to my grandparents for the annual egg hunt.  Lincoln was pretty excited.  He was guarding the door while everyone was hiding eggs.

It wasn't long before Brooklyn got the hang of egg hunting, but the hill was really causing her some difficulty!

After the hunt we enjoyed a delicious meal and visited :-)
