Grandma's Birthday Trip Part 2

The latter part of our trip got interesting to say the least...  There were fun and exciting things to come and some irritating and stressful things as well.  Let me set up the scene for you...  It's hot and sticky out, you've been shopping at an outdoor mall with two kids under the age of three.  One of which is in the midst of potty training and has a fear of unfamiliar toilets and the automatic flush.  You get back to your hotel parking garage and the oldest and heaviest little angle has fallen fast asleep so you carry him along with all the bags weaving through the acres of slot machines, shops, and restaurants toward your room.  Meanwhile your parents are also carrying your other child along with bags and such.  Then cell phones start ringing, but they are not an easy item to fish out of a pocket at this point.  Finally my mom answers her phone and relays a message to my dad that the hotel had been trying to get a hold of him.

Now we are half way to our room and we are down an adult as my dad rushes off to the front desk area to see what is going on.  Finally the elevators are in sight and we are at our room.  Wait, what?  They room key isn't working?  No...  Wait Brooklyn now has a blow out diaper that is staining her clothing?  Lincoln is still sleeping?  Yes...  Fun times...  My mom takes off to get to the bottom of our malfunctioning room keys while I attempt to lay Lincoln down and tackle the diaper issue.  Fortunately Lincoln was so tired he just continued to sleep in the doorway.  Unfortunately, I reached deep into the diaper bag and came to the horrible realization that I had no more diapers for Brooklyn.  They were all behind the door T1524, in our room...  Awesome...  Luckily my chunky miss fit into one of brothers pull ups.  Phew!  And of course she was happy as a clam :-)

Finally security came and let us in our room and only minutes after that my dad came strolling down the hallway with a HUGE grin on his face.  Apparently the urgent message was that he had won 1st place at the slot tournament in which he and my mom had participated along with over 400 other people.  WOW!!  He won $7,500!!  Totally worth the room key fiasco!  If only that had been the end of the room key saga.  Little did we know that it was only the beginning.  We would spend a majority of the duration of our stay fighting with defective room keys.  Other than the nuisance of being locked out at random times and having the maintenance guy reprogram your door, the biggest problem was when we nearly were black balled from the pool.  Finally the maintenance guys switched out the entire card reader and we had no more room key problems :-)

We were able to enjoy the pool (once Lincoln realized it was fun), did some more shopping, and even got to check out the cars that were constantly arriving for The Hot August Nights festivities.  Lincoln especially loved the cars...  Surprise, surprise ;-)  I even got to sneak out for some adult time with my mom :-)  She got an awesome bonus!!  Overall, we had a great time.  Thanks mom and dad for letting us tag along!!
